Traditional Media Relations
Media: Even though media may reach mass audiences, they shouldn’t be treated that way. The most effective results with media come from developing a truly trusting and DIRECT relationship. [Note: this applies to Bloggers too

Traditional media relations is a key component of PRceptive’s services. Although there is a growing emphasis on new and social media, the traditional print and broadcast media remain important in the business world.
We truly believe in a fully integrated approach when it comes to communications strategy and consultation. One-off activities are never going to work nor sustain media interest. Working with media (this includes analysts), is all about relationship development, working together to ensure they get what they need to tell the story, complete research or build content for a future assignment.
So with the proper mix of highly targeted and strategic activities, PRceptive develops strong relationships with traditional media in order to help our clients gain the visibility and awareness they need – or should we say “want”.
Here are some of the services we perform for clients:
Proactive, Timely and Source Pitching: Proactive pitching provides media with a trend or an issue that will appeal to their audience. This is accomplished through unsolicited outreach (usually email) to media in hopes of garnering interest in a story. Timely story pitching is in response to an article/story that has already been written/broadcast. This can be very effective if it is a “hot” topic. But we have to act fast. Source Pitching is offering the media an executive or a specialist to comment on a specific topic. All organizations have ’specialists and the media want to speak to them because of their wealth of information and unique perspectives.
Editorial Calendar Development: Many print publications (and several online publications) produce an “Editorial Calendar” – which is a breakdown of the publication’s editorial coverage plan for the year. PRceptive will research and deliver a breakdown of what key media outlets will be publishing in relation to clients’ business. PRceptive will assist clients in developing the content to match the topics in the editorial calendar.
Speaking Engagements: Much like Editorial Calendar Development, PRceptive will research, provide and maintain a calendar of potential speaking opportunities. PRceptive will provide suggestions of relevant topics, deadlines and submission guidelines to assist clients in obtaining maximum profile.
Trade Show Support: Many of our clients attend trade shows throughout the world - often events which include media attendance. PRceptive will reach out to pre-registered media in advance of the show to secure in-person briefings on the show floor. In the event that some shows do not have pre-registered media, PRceptive will reach out to local/regional media to secure pre-show interviews or briefings on the show floor.
Media Tour Support: Some of PRceptive clients have taken the product “on the road”. And in fact, for some businesses, media tours are an effective way to build good relations with key media. A face-to-face meeting with any key influencer is always a good idea. PRceptive will secure in-person meetings with key media or industry analysts in order to let clients demonstrate what they do best right in front of the people that will be writing the story.
